I'm Too Tired to Rest

I'm so very tired today and I'm sure I know why. I get into phases where I get out and go running for a few miles each night. I got out last night and ran about 3.5 miles and then did some 200 meter sprints up and down my road til I nearly hurled.
I've began to realize that at 34 years of age, that you don't recover nearly so easily. Heck, if I don't get to bed by 10 or so, then I may be a wreck the next day. All of this is tough considering my summer workload. Read the first blog about that. I've got 4 week left in this summer and my team and I have to completely wire a new school for network and projectors and get computers in place. That sounds like plenty of time but there are many details once the labor is over.
If someone offered me a job for six digits a year, then I would have to consider it.

Starbucks

Well, I lied. In my first post of tekmadness, I stated that I would try to stick to tekie subjects. Like I just said, I lied. I want to talk about other stuff near and dear. One of those things is coffee.

I'll go on record and state that I DO LIKE STARBUCKS. That does not mean that I don't like other coffee shops. I like those also. I just really enjoy good coffee. I get regular coffee at these places so I don't plan on shelling out more than a buck or two.

I keep reading news off the wire about Starbucks closing more than 600 stores and the response from all interviewed is "Hooray!!". I support local, independently owned coffee shops when I can. In my town (Albany), that means 2 places. I have Brown Bean, that is in downtown Albany and not anywhere close to where I travel and then there is this young upstart, Elements Coffee located on Ledo Road near Walmart and my church. The latter is pretty decent and their prices are not bad, though not much lower than Starbucks.

The main thing I like about 'bucks is that I know what I will get each and every time I go in. The coffee will taste the same every time I go in and not vary based on what the owner could or could not get in beans, cream available, sugar type and whether they have any honey.

As for closing all of the 'bucks stores, I would have to say that they opened way too many and now you have backlash just like with Mac users getting away from Windows machines. (there's my tek tie-in)

The Name

I've just established this blog, mainly to vent about work and life. The name of my blog came from thoughts I've had while working this summer. I am  a tech specialist for LCHS in Leesburg, GA.

Our summer work for this summer has included a good bit of manual labor and some creativity. Without getting in to too much detail, we've crammed several months worth of work into what amounts to 2.5 months. That is part of the madness and it is a lot like the movie Groundhogs Day. I get every morning with the same routine and no matter how much we accomplish, it seems like nothing has changed. You can't get it all done.

We've just completed work on a brand new elementary school and now it feels like we are starting from scratch on an old school that is being renovated. We are completely rewiring the school from the ground up and it just doesn't feel like we are going to get it finished. We'll see.

This is the first blog for tekmadness so I just wanted to cover the name and what is going on right now. I hope the future blogs cover more tek and less madness.
